Valentine's Around the World
Since we have so many members from all of the world , I am curiouswill you be stitching Valentine's Day cards for your loved ones?
How do you celebrate Valentine's Day in your country?
I will stitch cards for my Boyfriend, his two children, my Mom and my two nieces.
Over the Valentine's weekend my Boyfriend and I will have a romantic dinner and exchange gifts and on Valentine's day we are going to take the kids to do something fun.
What are your plans? Valentine's Day is "imported" here, but although very popular. But presents are given mostly between lovers/spouses, it's not common to give a card or gift to someone who is just a friend or to a family member. Originally on 14th of February it's the day of St Tryphon, but many people are "combining" both. Nowadays St Tryphon day is known mainly as the day of the wine (in past it was more the day of the vine-growing and farming).
My only plans for the Valentine weekend are going to a French language competition. I celebrate Valentine's day with my husband only (not with our son) :)but no valentine's card is stitched...
I will buy a grift for my husband and he will get one in return too. i made a teddy for my fella

i am working on other projects now so he wont get a stitched card. Its cute tency it looks sweet.
Im single so no valentine day for me here.
In the Netherlands the gif a cart to there lover or a dinner with there lover.
Its living here not so very long about 15 years about.

La leggenda
Il tentativo della Chiesa cattolica di porre termine ad un popolare rito pagano per la fertilità, è all'origine di questa festa degli innamorati.
Fin dal quarto secolo A. C. i romani pagani rendevano omaggio, con un singolare rito annuale, al dio Lupercus. I nomi delle donne e degli uomini che adoravano questo Dio venivano messi in un'urna e opportunamente mescolati. Quindi un bambino sceglieva a caso alcune coppie che per un intero anno avrebbero vissuto in intimità affinché il rito della fertilità fosse concluso. L'anno successivo sarebbe poi ricominciato nuovamente con altre coppie.
Determinati a metter fine a questa primordiale vecchia pratica, i padri precursori della Chiesa hanno cercato un santo "degli innamorati per sostituire il deleterio Lupercus. Così trovarono un candidato probabile in Valentino, un vescovo che era stato martirizzato circa duecento anni prima.
La leggenda
A Roma, nel 270 D. C il vescovo Valentino di Interamna, (oggi è la città di Terni), amico dei giovani amanti, fu invitato dall'imperatore pazzo Claudio II e questi tentò di persuaderlo ad interrompere questa strana iniziativa e di convertirsi nuovamente al paganesimo. San Valentino, con dignità, rifiutò di rinunciare alla sua Fede e, imprudentemente, tentò di convertire Claudio II al Cristianesimo. Il 24 febbraio, 270, San Valentino fu lapidato e poi decapitato.
La storia inoltre sostiene che mentre Valentino era in prigione in attesa dell'esecuzione, sia "caduto" nell'amore con la figlia cieca del guardiano, Asterius, e che con la sua fede avesse ridato miracolosamente la vista alla fanciulla e che, in seguito, le avesse firmato il seguente messaggio d'addio: "dal vostro Valentino," una frase che visse lungamente anche dopo la morte del suo autore. in Italy, Valentine's day is celebrated on 14 February. is a typical Lovebird using Exchange of gifts.
